Parents: Learn how to develop your child’s writing skills

Writing is a challenging, complex and multi-faceted task which requires
the development of higher order thinking skills and control over the
lower order skills such as grammar and punctuation. Learn to craft
specific and targeted feedback that:
• Develops higher order thinking skills such as questioning and reflecting,
• Teaches the child how to learn,
• Builds self-confidence, perseverance, persistence and
• Improves knowledge and understanding of writing skills.Course has 3
parts

Part 1: Your child writes a persuasive and narrative text from a prompt.
The writing sample is emailed to Colleen to make an assessment.

Part 2: attend a 1.5 hour workshop to learn how to assess your child’s
writing and how to make a plan for teaching.

Part 3: attend a 1.5 hour workshop to learn what and how to teach.
Dates:
Part 1: writing samples emailed by 15th June, 2019.
Part 2: attend Saturday 22nd June, 2019.  Time: 2:00 p.m – 3:30 p.m.
Part 3: attend Saturday 29th June, 2019. Time: 2:00 p.m – 3:30 p.m.
