University/Studies: Columbia University, Film Studies/Economics Double Major

Bio: I graduated Perth Modern School in 2013 and topped the state in English that year. I am currently pursuing my dreams, studying a double major of film and economics at Columbia University in New York City. During high school I was an active member of my community, serving as the founder and president of my school’s volunteers club and running a non-profit video production service. In my experience as a student of the GATE program, G&T students require a unique and structured program focussing beyond academics and concentrating on interpersonal and leadership skills in order to get the most out of their abilities. I look forward to helping your G&T child develop these skills and encouraging them to excel.

University Studies: I will be commencing in semester 1 2015 as a full-time student studying the Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) at UWA.

Bio: I am an 18 year old who graduated from Perth Modern School in 2014 with an ATAR of 99.75. I am a friendly and approachable person who deeply values education and loves teaching others. I have experience working with and teaching children, having been a piano tutor and baby-sitter for over two years, as well as having done work experience teaching in a primary school. I also have a valid Apply First Aid certificate. My year 12 subjects were Literature, Italian, Chemistry, Politics and Law, Philosophy and Ethics and Maths 3C/D – in all of which I achieved highly (reflected by the fact that I was recently awarded a UWA Fogarty Foundation Scholarship and awarded a WACE Certificate of Commendation) and which, more importantly, I enjoyed.

I am extremely passionate about teaching and helping other students and realise the importance of tutoring for success in school. However I had to pay $130 an hour for my tutoring classes in Year 12, so I realise that accessing good tutors can be very expensive. I have learnt very valuable methods of teaching from my tutors, and have seen them work for me (as I managed to achieve a predicted ATAR of 99.90) and many other students. I simply want to convey my knowledge to motivated students of any age at an affordable price.
